Maintainer of Debian Hadoop packages

After having studied musical education and physics Thomas Koch didn't become a teacher but worked in different software companies for the last 5 years. His last project was a media monitoring service for a swiss startup. He learned the limits of traditional relational databases the hard way and afterwards introduced hadoop into the project.
He organizes local developer meetings, a local nosql summer, contributes to Apache ZooKeeper, Maintains Debian Packages and strives to do good things with software.

Currently he's a full time student again and hopes to finish his computer science bachelor in the next months.

Berlin Buzzwords 2011 is a conference for developers and users of open source software projects, focussing on the issues of scalable search, data-analysis in the cloud and NoSQL-databases. Berlin Buzzwords presents more than 30 talks and presentations of international speakers specific to the three tags "search", "store" and "scale".
