Tell us your favourite spots in Berlin

Friedrichshain Berlin Hauptbahnhof Brandenburger Tor

Berlin Buzzwords starts on Sunday evening with a local barcamp and opens on Monday June 7th at 08:45am at Kosmos Berlin. Being located in the vibrant district Friedrichshain, finding nice bars and restaurants to meet and chat after the conference sessions are over should be no problem at all.

However we would love to give attendees a very good excuse to arrive earlier, leave later and spend the conference evenings with other developers interested in searching, storing and analysing data. Therefore we need your help: If you are living in Berlin or know the city very well, we would like to ask you to volunteer as a Berlin Buzzwords guide. As a little thank you we are offering you to attend the conference at a reduced rate - we have a few community tickets (100 Euros for both conference days) left for you. Being a local guide for Berlin Buzzwords gives you a unique chance to get in touch not only with visitors of Buzzwords but also with our fantastic speakers who will most likely join the groups as well.

What we expect of the guides: First option is to show a group of up to five attendees your favourite places in the city on Sunday, June 6th. You should make sure that people who want to join the Barcamp Berlin Buzzwords have enough time to get to newthinking store before 5pm. The second option is to take a group of up to ten people to your favourite restaurant in Friedrichshain on Monday and Tuesday after the conference sessions are over. You should make sure a table is booked for your group for that day.

Becoming Buzzwords' guide is easy: Send a mail to isabel@apache.org indicating that you are interested in helping us. Please

  • indicate whether you'd rather do a weekend tour or take people out after the conference sessions,
  • include information on where you would like to meet with people interested in your tour,
  • add a brief description of your proposed tour,
  • include your contact details (name, mail address, IM address) and an image of yourself so people can easily spot you.

Submission deadline is May 24th. We are publishing proposals on this webpage one week before the conference starts. For weekend tours we are creating an entry on upcoming.org so people who are interested can register. For evening tours on the conference days we are printing registration lists so people who are interested can sign in during the conference.
