Announcing Berlin Buzzwords

On June 6/7th 2011 Urania Berlin (https://www.urania.de/) will host Berlin Buzzwords 2011, the second edition of the community organised conference on scalable search, data analysis and NoSQL projects. Topics include current developments in the Apache projects Hadoop, Lucene and Solr, scaling search with katta or Elastic search, NoSQL databases such as Apache CouchDB, HBase and MongoDB.

“The Buzzwords conference last year put Berlin on the map as Europe's perhaps most important hub for startups and cutting edge web technology today. Already looking forward to the next!” says Eric Wahlforss of Soundcloud

Presentations target developers in the high-scalability area. Both members of the respective projects as well as their users are invited to present their solutions. The call for presentations is available online at https://2011.berlinbuzzwords.de/cfp.

With a mixture of short lightning talks as well as long, in-depth tutorials, as well as lots of time during and after the conference visitors get the chance to get in touch with core developers as well as commercial users. Food and drinks are available and included in the conference ticket.

"Berlin Buzzwords 2010 was a great opportunity to showcase our initial release of Lily - a NoSQL content repository based on HBase and SOLR," says Steven Noels, managing partner of Outerthought. "The event organisation was top-notch: from badges to bag inserts, bannering, food, videotaping - the organisers went out of their way to accommodate both audience, speaker and sponsors in a highly professional way, while still achieving the easy-going, content-above-form atmosphere of a grassroots conference."

Berlin Buzzwords is organised by Newthinking GmbH in collaboration with Isabel Drost (Member of the Apache Software Foundation, PMC member Apache community development and co-founder of Apache Mahout), Jan Lehnardt (PMC member Apache CouchDB) and Simon Willnauer (PMC member Apache Lucene).
